Council bin lorry takes chunk out of house leaving it badly damaged

A house has been left significantly damaged after a council bin lorry crashed into it.

The home, on the corner of a road in Port Eynon, Swansea , was struck on Friday morning as refuse collections were carried out in the area.

The inner brickwork is now visible from the roadside and fencing and cones have been placed around the corner of the property.

No injuries were caused to the homeowner, the driver or passengers as a result of the crash, and Swansea Council said it was now working with the person living at the property to "ensure she is not inconvenienced".

A spokesman for Swansea council said: "One of our refuse collection vehicles has been involved in a collision with a property in the Port Eynon community. Fortunately no injuries were suffered either by the homeowner, the vehicle's operator, or passengers.

"Council staff were on site immediately to assess the property. We know this is a distressing time for the owner and we’re continuing to work with the homeowner to ensure they are not inconvenienced by this incident."
