'Couldn't care less' - Liverpool FC legend Jamie Carragher in jibe at Man City's Champions League failures

Jamie Carragher has hit out at Manchester City on Twitter over his response to their Champions League ban being overruled.

The former Liverpool defender claimed that Manchester City's name has not been cleared despite their successful appeal to overturn a two-year ban from UEFA competitions.

"They have still lost nine games this season, which just tells you that money isn't everything, nine teams have beaten them," he told Sky Sports.

"Man City, with the money that they have, haven't won the Champions League, so they're not actually completely dominating really.

"Will it have an effect on the pitch? Will the suspicion that they have done something or have got away with something go away? I don't think so it will as everyone has seen emails in the press in the last six to 12 months and people have made their mind up.

"Yes, they have gone to court and won but I don't think that suspicion will ever go away so I don't think they have fully cleared their name in the eyes of people up and down the country.

"Whether that helps the players, they don't have to worry that they might miss out on the Champions League, so they may improve and they certainly need to improve for next season."

However, Carragher went on to defend City after Jurgen Klopp declared the decision "a bad day for football".

Having done so, Carragher reacted angrily and took a swipe on social media at the club after he was accused of 'taking the news badly'.

He wrote: "Taking it very well actually! Couldn’t care less if you’re in the CL or not you’ve never done anything in it up until now anyway.

"I was actually defending City over FFP if you watch the full video".

In the video he goes on to say : "I've never been a big believer in Financial Fair Play in that I don't want to see the same clubs year in year out going for the league.

"I think City coming in in the last decade and taking Chelsea and Manchester United out the way to be probably the dominant force of the last decade has been good for football. When Chelsea came in and broke up the Arsenal and United domination it was good and I have no problem with it at all."
