'Couldn’t afford' - Claim made about Nottingham Forest's plan for midfielder

Nottingham Forest plan to send Jake Taylor out on loan to a League One club, claims Port Vale boss John Askey.

The 21-year-old midfielder impressed during a season-long loan at League Two Vale last season - and Askey had been eager to strike another deal with the Reds ahead of the new campaign.

But, after signing midfielder Danny Whitehead, Askey said: “I think it was always going to be difficult with Jake with him doing well for us.

"I think Forest are going to be looking to get him playing in League One, and I am sure there will be interest for him in League One.

"We couldn’t afford to wait around forever so it was important we try to get a settled squad as soon as possible.”
