Could YOU be an astronaut? Take this test to see if you've got what it takes

This week, people around the world will celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of NASA’s most important missions, Apollo 11.

The mission, which took place in 1969, saw humans set foot onto the moon for the first time, paving the way for manned missions beyond our planet.

In the 50 years since then, over 500 people have blasted into space, with many spending time on board the International Space Station.

But do you have it takes to be an astronaut? To find out, an Astronaut Aptitude Test has been created, based on official NASA requirements and psychological tests.

The Astronaut Aptitude Test (Astronaut Aptitude Test)

The test is made up of 15 questions that test your ability to understand abstract concepts, mechanical comprehension, spatial visualisation, IQ, space knowledge and problem-solving skills.

It also includes visual puzzles, based on the real exams first used by NASA during its 1959 selection programme.

Alongside each question, you’ll also see a fact or piece of trivia about Earth, NASA or space.

At the end of the quiz, you’ll be given your ‘planetary potential’, as well as a breakdown of your results.

If you don’t score too highly, don’t worry - very few people have what it takes!

In fact, in 2017, NASA received 18,300 applications and selected just 12 candidates for training!

You can take the quiz here.
