Could you be a secret millionaire? These are all the unclaimed lottery prizes across the UK

Winning big on the lottery isn't an every day occurrence and, for most of us, is something that will never happen.

However, there are up to 15 people who don't even know they are millionaires, and have National Lottery wins waiting for them.

Earlier this month, the Manchester Evening News reported that someone in Manchester claimed £1m lottery win - with just HOURS to go.

It had taken them six months to come forward to stake a claim for the prize, which relates to the Lotto draw on January 9, 2019.

The lucky ticket-holder had until midnight on July 8 to make themselves known and did so just in time.

But imagine if they missed out?

The people who could be set to lose their rightful winnings if they don't come forward soon include a winner in Tameside who won a £1m prize in the ' EuroMillions Millionaire Maker' raffle at the end of June.

With all National Lottery draws, players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket, in this case meaning the winner has until Christmas Day, December 25 2019, to claim their money.

Here is the current list on unclaimed National Lottery prizes in the UK:

So, what happens if no one stakes a claim in the prize?

If no-one comes forward with the winning ticket before the prize claim deadline, then the prize money, plus all the interest it has generated, will go to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.

The National Lottery changes the lives of individuals as well as communities with players raising, on average, around £30m for National Lottery-funded projects every week.

Since the first lottery draw in 1994, more than 560,000 projects have been funded raising more than £40 billion overall.

In Manchester alone, more than 7,000 individual National Lottery grants have been awarded to help projects across the arts, sports, heritage, health, education, environment, charity and voluntary sectors.

Take The National Football Museum, for example. Located in the heart of Manchester and dedicated to remembering and preserving football's heritage and culture, it was Lotto players who helped build the museum and helped to acquire some of items on display.
