Could Titans safety Johnathan Cyprien land in Pittsburgh?

Per a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Tennessee Titans are expected to release safety Johnathan Cyprien in the near future.

While it sounds like the Titans would like to have him back on the roster, Cyprien doesn’t seem so accepting of taking a smaller salary.

It’s hard to justify a big paycheck for Cyprien, given his injury issues and the success fellow safety Kenny Vaccaro had while stepping up in his place.

So with Cyprien expected to be packing his bags and leaving Nashville, it’s time to start looking a plausible landing spots.

One team that may have interest in Cyprien is the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Steelers Wire’s Curt Popejoy believes there’s a specific role for him with Mike Tomlin’s team.

“Cyprien could supplant Terrell Edmunds as the team’s other starting safety and allow Edmunds to move into the hybrid safety/linebacker role in sub packages he appears to be best suited for.”

And Cyprien is still more than capable of being an impact player on another team’s defense. Despite an underwhelming career in Tennessee, it’s hard to forget about the four consecutive seasons of over 100 tackles he put together for the rival Jacksonville Jaguars.

Regardless of where he lands, it’s safe to assume Cyprien’s days in Tennessee are numbered.
