Could there be a Watt family reunion in Pittsburgh?

There’s almost no chance the Pittsburgh Steelers can work a trade for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. The cost is just going to be far too high. However, this doesn’t mean the Steelers can’t still work a trade with Houston to bring great delight to Steeler Nation.

According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, part of the Texans fire sale could include perennial All-Pro defensive end J.J. Watt. With brothers T.J. and Derek already on the Steelers roster, it would be some impressive synergy if Pittsburgh could wrangle J.J. as well.

But do the Steelers need him? The easy answer is of course. Despite being only one year younger than Cam Heyward, Watt is still playing great football and would be a tremendous addition to the Steelers defensive line rotation with Heyward and Stephon Tuitt.

Unfortunately, trading for Watt this offseason is a luxury Pittsburgh just cannot afford. Between Watt’s salary cap hit and the value of this year’s draft, it’s hard to imaging the Steelers extending themselves for any player.
