Could the Titans trade for Chiefs edge rusher Dee Ford?

With the mid-March NFL free agency period nearly here, the Titans are expected to make some big moves.

While wide receiver is certainly a position high up on the priority list, the Titans will also be in the market for an edge rusher to complement a rising star in Harold Landry.

One option the Titans could look into is Dee Ford, who was franchise tagged by the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday. But the Chiefs are also looking for a pick in the second round because Ford doesn’t exactly provide the best fit for Kansas City’s 4-3 scheme.

Ford won’t come cheap, but other options of the same caliber won’t either. He arguably presents the best choice at the position for the Titans as one of the league’s strongest pass rushers expected to be available.

Over his last 36 appearances, Ford has racked up 25 sacks.

The move would instantly give the Titans a boost on defense in 2019, and would pave the way for a much stronger pass rush in the long-term as well.

Whether Jon Robinson and the Titans choose to acquire Ford from the Chiefs or not, expect the team to make improving the pass rush one of its biggest tasks as preparation for the 2019 season begins.
