Could the Texans designate G Senio Kelemete to return from injured reserve?

The Houston Texans placed offensive guard Senio Kelemete on injured reserve Wednesday with a wrist injury. However, it may not be the end of the season for Kelemete.

According to coach Bill O’Brien, Kelemete could be one of the two players the Texans designate to return from injured reserve after eight weeks.

“There’s definitely a chance, definitely a chance,” O’Brien told reporters Wednesday. “We’ll see where he’s at. It was just the time that it was going to take relative to that roster spot, we thought it was in the best interest of Senio and our team.”

In the meantime, the Texans have interior offensive lineman Greg Mancz, who can play both guard spots along with center, if anything happens. However, Mancz missed much of preseason with an ankle injury, and he still appears on the injury report with the same ankle injury. If something does happen to Mancz, the team may have to determine how healthy Kelemete is for a return.
