Could the Seahawks target CB Sean Bunting in the NFL Draft?

The Seattle Seahawks have a defensive back prototype. The Legion of Boom is proof of that. Coach Pete Carroll has long sought after long, athletic cornerbacks, which helped him find hidden gems in players like Richard Sherman, Brandon Browner and DeShawn Shead, to name a few.

Now, with the LOB officially gone, Carroll will need to prove he is capable of cultivating those types of players once more.

Shaquill Griffin and Tre Flowers have each had their moments, but finding a late-round gem in the 2019 NFL Draft would go a long way toward rebuilding this defense sooner rather than later.

One option the Seahawks could consider is Central Michigan corner Sean Bunting.

Bunting fits the prototype that Carroll likes. He’s six-foot and 195 pounds, but has long arms, big hands and borderline elite top speed, running a very solid 4.42 in the 40-yard dash at the combine.

He would be a project, similar to Flowers, but he has the speed, athleticism and size to thrive in a Pete Carroll-led defensive scheme.

Currently projected as a day three draft prospect, the Seahawks could either use their fifth round pick on him, or acquire a sixth or a seventh round pick to snatch him up.
