Could the Seahawks look to reunite with FB Derrick Coleman?

The Seattle Seahawks, despite having one of the best running games in the league, have not made a fullback a big part of their offense in a long time.

Last season, fullback Tre Madden played in all 16 games but was primarily a special teams player, only getting three carries and two targets all season.

Madden is a restricted free agent this offseason, and though Seattle will surely want to bring him back they could always look to add another fullback/special teamer to take his place.

One option they could explore would be a familiar face to the 12s — Derrick Coleman.

Coleman played with the Seahawks from 2012-2015 after going undrafted out of UCLA. He is known primarily as the first legally deaf offensive player in the NFL, but he also carved out a very nice role as a run blocker, special teamer and occasional threat in the passing game — hauling in all 11 targets for 91 yards and two touchdowns in his time with the Seahawks.

He spent 2017 with the Falcons and last season with the Cardinals, filling a similar role. Unless the Cardinals re-sign him, he will become a free agent next month.

Coleman and Madden aren’t too different, but if Seattle can’t re-sign Madden Coleman would be a nice addition and one who is familiar with Russell Wilson, Pete Carroll and many aspects of Seattle’s offense.
