Could the Raiders trade for Falcons DE Vic Beasley?

It’s no secret that the Oakland Raiders need some help at defensive end. In Week 7, Oakland recorded just one sack on Aaron Rodgers as he was able to carve up the defense for six touchdowns. Despite all the Raiders’ investments in the defensive line, it’s a unit that still isn’t good enough.

On Sunday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Raiders are interested in acquiring a pass rusher before the NFL trade deadline.

However, most teams aren’t giving away edge rushers for cheap. One player that is available via trade is Falcons defensive end Vic Beasley. After being selected in the top 10 of the 2015 draft, Beasley is going to be a free agent after the season.

His best season came in 2016 when he recorded 15.5 sacks and was an All-Pro selection. Beasley hasn’t been able to replicate that type of production in recent seasons, totaling just 11.5 sacks since.

However, Beasley is still someone who can create pressure on the quarterback with his speed. And with Arden Key out for the next few weeks, taking a risk on Beasley wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. It likely wouldn’t cost more than a late-round pick to acquire Beasley, and that could be a worthwhile risk.

Look for Beasley to be traded sometime in the next 10 days, with the Raiders being potential suitors.
