Could the Raiders make a trade for Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson?

The Oakland Raiders have three big holes on their roster; defensive end, linebacker, and cornerback. With four picks inside of the top-35 selections, they should be able to find quality players at each of those positions.

However, draft picks are never sure things. Oakland fans know that better than anything else. That’s why it wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world for Oakland to consider moving one of their first round picks for a proven star at the position.

One player they could consider trading for is veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson from the Arizona Cardinals. Peterson looks to be in the middle of a dispute with the team, scrubbing the Cardinals from all of his social media posts. He did not report to voluntary OTA’s and sent out a few cryptic Instagram posts over the last few days.

Peterson was the No. 5 overall pick by the Cardinals during the 2011 NFL Draft and has since made eight Pro Bowls and has been a three-time All-Pro selection. Peterson turns 29 in July, but he is still one of the best cornerbacks in the entire league.

Pairing him with a young Gareon Conley would give Oakland a dynamic cornerback duo with size and speed. Considering some of their other needs on the team, trading away a first round pick for arguably the best corner in the league seems like a smart move.

Peterson would instantly improve their pass defense and would give the team even more depth at the position. If he is available on the trade market, expect the Raiders to have an interest in the former LSU cornerback.
