Could Seattle Seahawks pursue free agent guard T.J. Lang?

The Detroit Lions announced Friday they are releasing veteran guard T.J. Lang, sending him to free agency after two seasons in the Motor City.

Lang was targeted by the Seahawks two summers ago before he signed with Detroit, which is located near his hometown of Royal Oak, Michigan.

Lang is a two-time Pro Bowler who spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Packers, starting at guard for six of them.

Lang may be approaching 32 years of age, but he was still productive last season, earning a 72.0 grade from Pro Football Focus. However, his age and injury history (he only saw the field in six games last year) make him a risky target on the open market.

Seattle received outstanding guard play from veterans D.J. Fluker and J.R. Sweezy last season although both could become free agents this offseason.

If Seattle is unable to re-sign one or both of their starters from last year, Lang could be a potential target for this team. He would provide a great veteran presence alongside Duane Brown and Justin Britt, and if he remained healthy Seattle’s offensive line wouldn’t miss a beat.
