Could Seahawks target edge defender Chase Winovich?

The Seattle Seahawks are looking for pass rushing heading into the 2019 season. Frank Clark is excellent at getting to the quarterback, but his contract demands could push him out of Seattle sooner rather than later.

Seattle is expected to turn toward the draft to shore up some key positions of need, including pass rush. However, the elite at that position will all likely be gone before the Seahawks pick at No. 21 overall.

Should they decide to trade back and acquire more picks, they do have some options to find some help getting to the quarterback in the second round, including Michigan edge defender Chase Winovich.

Winovich posted on Instagram that he was in Seattle on Tuesday, although it is not clear if the Seahawks had him in for a workout.

Regardless, his high-motor, tenacious style of play is a good look for Seattle, as is his ability to disrupt the rushing lanes and pursue runners.

He profiles as more of a tweener in the NFL, however, and there are concerns about his instincts and his ability to drop into pass coverage if needed.

Regardless, high-motor players like Winovich tend to win over coach Pete Carroll, and he could be a nice target in the second round if Seattle chooses to trade down.
