Could Redskins have Duke’s Daniel Jones as top QB?

Could the Washington Redskins be the team with Daniel Jones as their top-rated quarterback in the 2019 NFL draft?

A new report from Yahoo’s Charles Robinson says at least one team has the Duke passer there.

While conventional wisdom suggests this is referring to the New York Giants, owners of the sixth pick, the Redskins have done a good job of remaining a mystery in this process.

The Redskins have worked with all of the top quarterbacks during the draft process and could look to address the position at No. 15, if not earlier.

And Jones could indeed be that guy if he falls. He’s got pristine mechanics (even going so far as to remind some of Peyton Manning), and a notable lack of production at Duke could be attributed to his surroundings.

Jones isn’t as flashy as say, Kyler Murray or Dwayne Haskins, but if the Redskins were to value him as the top passer and he is there at No. 15, it would be hard to complain from a value standpoint.

If it is the Giants hinted at above and it pushes the Redskins’ preferred passer closer to their pick, then even better.
