Could Mark Cuban make a 2020 presidential run? 'Everything's a reset now'

DALLAS _ Is it really too late for a newcomer to make a splash in the 2020 presidential race?

Mark Cuban doesn't think so. In fact, he just might know someone.

In an Axios virtual event the online news outlet hosted Friday, the Dallas Mavericks owner was cautious in his responses to Axios CEO Jim VandeHei but said, "Everything's a reset now," thanks to the rapid spread of coronavirus across the country.

"If this would would've been a month ago, I would have said absolutely not," Cuban continued. "But obviously things are crazy, things are changing."

As its stand so far, Democrat Joe Biden is on track to challenge President Donald Trump in the Nov. 3 presidential election.

In the past, Cuban has mused before about pursuing a run at the White House as an independent but generally has said such talks have been "overblown."

Cuban said he didn't think it was too late to make a run for a spot on the 2020 ballot, but it sounded like he would rather not.

"So I'll keep an open mind," he said. "But I seriously doubt it."
