Could Kentucky QB Will Levis be the next Matthew Stafford?

One of the quarterbacks that has been the most frequently mocked players to the Raiders has been Kentucky QB Will Levis. Likely to be the No. 3 or No. 4 quarterback drafted, Levis has a lot of the ideal traits you want from a franchise passer.

However, he needs to be in the right system and his accuracy needs to improve a ton. But what if he does get picked by the right team? What is his possible upside or NFL comparison?

In a recent article by ESPN and their NFL draft experts, they gave some of their favorite comparisons for the top passers. For Levis, his comp was none other than Matthew Stafford (Rams).

Here is what Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN had to say about Levis and how he compares to Stafford:

The arm strength, the build, the gunslinger mentality — I see a lot of Stafford in Levis, my second-ranked quarterback in this class. Stafford threw 33 picks in three seasons at Georgia, often because he tried to squeeze passes into tight windows. He and Levis (Kentucky) both can make rare throws, but that also leads them into mistakes.

Levis does have a fantastic arm and can make any throw on the football field. But maybe the best reason for the comparison is the toughness displayed by Levis this season. Battling a foot injury, Levis played through a serious injury to be on the field for his team. Stafford has done the same in the past, endearing himself to his teammates.

Levis has a long way to go before he becomes Matthew Stafford, but their games are very similar. If Levis can have a career anything like Stafford, he would be well worth the No. 7 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
