Could J.J. Watt be heading to the NFC North?

The Texans and star defensive end J.J. Watt mutually agreed to part ways earlier this month.

Over at NFL.com, Nick Shook speculated on where Watt could land. One of the nine teams included the Green Bay Packers.

Here’s a bit of what Shook wrote about the fit:

Green Bay makes sense because of its location: Wisconsin. Watt was a standout defender at the University of Wisconsin, reminding folks of his roots by wearing a Wisconsin hoodie in his farewell video to Houston. A return home would make sense, as would the defensive fit in Green Bay’s 3-4 system. Watt could take a starting job and add to a unit that is currently starting Dean Lowry and Tyler Lancaster at defensive end in its front, bringing a force to a group that also includes Za’Darius Smith.

Another team that needs a defensive end? The Minnesota Vikings! However, with their cap space, this seems pretty unlikely.

If Watt, 31, were to join the Packers, it would be pretty similar to when the Packers signed 34-year-old Julius Peppers back in 2014.
