Fans of the Boston Celtics have been waiting to see Israeli floor general Yam Madar get on the court for the team that drafted him in 2020 with the 47th overall pick since his name was called by Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum that evening. And while it is far from a sure thing, new rumbles about that taking place have resurfaced in a recent article by The Athletic’s Jared Weiss.
“Israeli point guard Yam Madar, 22 … could still arrive for training camp after his international duties this summer,” shared Weiss. “Boston has room on the back end of its roster for a point guard with good pace control and vision like Madar, though he still has a lot of development both in his skills and physicality to be ready for the NBA.”
“But multiple league sources believe Madar … should be ready for a two-way this upcoming season,” added the Athletic reporter.

With the Celtics still poised to make moves — perhaps substantial ones — to reshape the roster further this offseason, it is probably wise for Madar to remain focused on his season with Belgrade’s KK Partizan for 2023-24.
But in the same sort of way that larger-scope moves made a trip across the pond untenable for Madar in the past, it could well see the Beit Dagan native finally make the leap if all goes well for him, too.
