What Food Review Club had to say about Nottingham's Hooters

Hooters is famed for two things - waitresses in tight tops and chicken wings - and a reviewer from the virual YouTube channel Food Review Club had plenty to say about both.

Fast food lover Matt Davies-Binge stopped off in Nottingham to sample the wares in the car park, at the only Hooters in the UK, off London Road.

After forking out £35 for curly fries, chicken wings (boneless and standard), a burger and can of Red Bull, he scored the food an underwhelming 6.5 out of ten.

Matt, who describes himself as the "kebab king, pizza prince and the cardinal of chips," slated the curly fries - and the environmentally unfriendly polystyrene box they were served in.

"It's a really poor chip. It's neither crunchy, flavours not really there, kind of soft, soggy." he said.

He wasn't too keen on the chicken burger either.

Even though the barbecue sauce tasted "like cheap stuff out of a bottle" it was alright.

But he rated the taste of "the big old burger," with crispy coated chicken.

"It's juicy, and it's cooked unlike some other places I've been to," he said. "It's very simple but they do the basics well."

The wings obsessive was left wanting more from his classic portion with hot sauce.

"Everyone knows Hooters for the wings. They're famous, the sauce equally so. I love wings," he started off.

But after diving into them, he said: "They're nice, nothing really happens, very plain, kind of flat, however, it's a nice wing, cooked really well. The sauce hasn't got much heat to it. I'm kind of underwhelmed by the wings.

If Hooters was mine I'd be looking to make these the showstopper."

The boneless wings with Daytona Beach sauce fare much better, at which point the manager appears in the video.

"These are a lot nicer - the sauce is actually dong something, richness, spiciness, that heat coming through - if you come to Hooters these are a must. Crunchy, chicken barbecue goodness."

Summing up, Matt said: "I'm not being horrible, I love this place. I've really slagged it.

"Chips were fairy uninspiring, chicken burger was good, wings, half way there... the hot sauce didn't do anything. The boneless wings, really really good.

"Overall it could have been better.

"It's half decent but it's missing areas which is why we're not getting into high scores. With a couple of tweaks and changes this could be really really special.

"Coming here with your mates after a night out, before a night out, stag dos, fun vibrant place, I get it but I'm here to review the food."
