Could former Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback return to Nottingham Forest?

Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi has refused to be drawn on a potential City Ground return for former Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback.

Colback joined Forest on loan in January 2018 after falling out of favour with former Magpies boss Rafa Benitez, and a further season-long loan was agreed in the summer.

The Magpies confirmed the 30-year-old was one of seven players to be released this summer, and the midfielder has been linked with a possible return to Forest.

However, when asked about a move for the free agent, Lamouchi insists his current focus is on the squad at his disposal as the club remains firmly in the hunt for promotion to the Premier League.

With eight league fixtures remaining, the Forest boss insists the upcoming clash with Huddersfield Town on Sunday is his "priority".

Lamouchi told our sister title NottinghamshireLive: “I am just focused on my team and my players

“I can talk about my players and answer any questions on them.

“He was an ex-player for Nottingham Forest but he is not a player of Nottingham Forest for the moment.

“I don’t have any comment on him or somebody else. I am just focused because we have a target to achieve and the long-term for the club.

“I don’t want to disturb the players, the manager, the club and the people around the team with other things.

"The priority is Sunday; after Sunday it will be (the game against) Bristol City.

“I can give you my opinion on all the players in the squad now, but not for other players.”
