Per The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Portland Trail Blazers have fired their general manager Neil Oshey, and it did not take long before informed analysts started speculating regarding who might be waiting in the wings to replace him.
The Blazers will likely want to have a new GM in place ahead of the 2022 NBA trade deadline in February if they can, meaning they will likely go with a veteran front office denizen given the importance of maintaining the team’s competitiveness around star point guard Damian Lillard in a competitive Western Conference.
To that end, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix believes that former Boston Celtics team president Danny Ainge is a surefire option the team will consider to head it in their search for a new top executive.
Among the names sure to surface in the Blazers search for a new GM: Danny Ainge. Ainge is an Oregon native who played for the Blazers in the early 90’s.

“Ainge is an Oregon native who played for the Blazers in the early ’90s,” tweeted Mannix, likely launching a wave of trade machine speculation among Boston fans hoping for a favorable ally in Portland soon.
