Could D.J. Moore be the next Percy Harvin for the Panthers?

Panthers wide receiver D.J. Moore has a pretty unique skill-set. When he first came into the league, finding a good current pro comparison was somewhat difficult. That may be because the closest thing to Moore has been out of the league since 2016.

Percy Harvin was a first-round pick by the Vikings in the 2009 NFL draft. He immediately made a splash as a rookie, posting 790 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He added another 1,156 yards and two more scores as a kick returner and earned a trip to the Pro Bowl. Harvin never really matched that production again and became a literal headache off the field, but he still had a strong career as a triple threat receiver, returner and rusher.

In case you’ve forgotten how elusive Harvin was at his peak, Moore shared this highlight reel on Twitter the other day.

While he may not be quite as lethal as Harvin was in his prime, Moore sometimes looks similar on tape.

Watch Moore rack up yards after catch and the resemblance becomes much more clear.

Moore told the Charlotte Observer that his playing style is reminiscent of Harvin and Jarvis Landry last year after getting drafted, so he may be aiming to model his game after them.

Hopefully injuries and off-field problems won’t derail Moore’s career as they did Harvin’s. A lot of the same ability is there.
