The Dallas Cowboys should know soon whether defensive end Randy Gregory will be allowed to play in the playoffs or whether will he face a year-long suspension.
Gregory, who missed the first 14 games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, was in New York on Tuesday hoping to win an appeal for another missed test that put him the cross hairs of a lengthy suspension.
That he recently parted ways from his agent and didn't have representation didn't postpone or delay the hearing.
So there is no issue of due process.
The NFL refused to comment on the matter.
Per a source, the result of the hearing will not be announced Tuesday.
Gregory was terminated by his agent Deryk Gilmore last week. He has yet to hire a new agent.
He had hoped the NFL would delay the hearing to give him time so a new representative could review the case and handle the appeal.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones declined to comment on Gregory's agent switch and how that would affect the appeal with the NFL on his radio show on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday morning.
But Jones wasn't shy about acknowledging the importance of having Gregory on the field for the playoffs, especially after watching him perform in the final two games of the regular season.
"He adds a certainly element to your rush and pressure out there that we could use," Jones said. "He's very explosive. He had natural bend. He has excellent first-step quickness and he has a knack for chasing the ball."
The question is whether Gregory will be on the field chasing the ball during the playoffs.
