Could Browns be targeting Seahawks safety Earl Thomas?

It’s Christmas in Cleveland.

On Tuesday, the Browns and Giants put together a blockbuster trade which will send wide receiver Odell Beckham to Cleveland in exchange for the Browns’ first-round pick, second third-rounder and safety Jabril Peppers.

But Cleveland might not be finished just yet.

With a glaring hole at safety with Peppers headed to New York, there is one safety in the league looking for a sexy new contract – Seahawks’ All-Pro Earl Thomas.

Unlike Landon Collins and Tyrann Mathieu, Thomas has yet to find a new team over the first two days of the legal negotiating period. Can Cleveland find a way to pull the trigger?

The Seahawks have stood firm to date, with no known extension offer on the table. Thomas is rumored to be clamoring to become the league’s highest-paid safety, something Seattle clearly isn’t willing to accommodate.

The Browns are no Cowboys, but if Cleveland is able to pony up the cash, Thomas just might be screaming “come get me.”
