Could Bengals WR A.J. Green be a potential trade target for Raiders?

The Raiders have done an excellent job of replacing Antonio Brown at a moment’s notice. Tyrell Williams has stepped up and taken his place as the team’s No. 1 receiver.

However, everyone knows that Williams is playing out of position as he really should be a complementary receiver, rather than the focal point of the offense. Eventually, Oakland is going to need to try to upgrade that position once again.

Could Oakland consider making a move now, rather than waiting until the offseason? It’s certainly possible, and there are a few names that would make sense.

One such player who could fill the role of a No. 1 receiver is Cincinnati Bengals’ WR A.J. Green. Despite missing all of the 2019 season so far with a foot injury, the expectation is that he should return in a few weeks. And with his contract set to expire after the season, could the Bengals move on from him now to at least gain a draft pick?

The Bengals are 0-4 and are clearly one of the worst teams in the NFL. They are going nowhere fast and have the appearance of a team tanking this season. When healthy, Green is one of the best receivers in the league and would be a perfect fit in Jon Gruden’s offense. Oakland would have the cap space to pay him long-term if he wants to stay, making the fit possible.

Would the Bengals be willing to accept a third-round pick (and some change) from Oakland for their No. 1 receiver? Who knows. But Green is one of the few proven veteran receivers who could be on the trade block in the next few weeks. Oakland would be wise to call about the seven-time Pro Bowl receiver.
