We have reached an all-new level in the J.J. Watt free agency madness.
We’ve gone beyond players from other teams recruiting him — including former Houston Texans teammate DeAndre Hopkins and Watt’s own brother, T.J. — into “WHAT DOES THIS THING MEAN?”
It happened on Thursday with Watt sharing T.J. shoveling snow in front of J.J.’s house. And earlier in the week, it appears a Cleveland Browns fan started getting his hopes up thanks to … a J.J. Watt cameo on New Girl.
Let’s set the scene (full disclosure: I have never seen New Girl, but I know the vague plot of the series): per IMDB, in Season 4’s “The Right Thing,” Watt appears at a funeral for a friend and he and Jess (played by Zooey Deschanel) are looking in a garage of the deceased friend for a cell phone. It’s in that garage that Watt appears to REACH FOR A BOX WITH A CLEVELAND BROWNS HELMET IN IT!

I checked on Netflix, and yes: with about 4:30 left in the episode, he reaches for the box.
WOW. If Watt does join the Browns, this will turn out to be eerily prescient.
