A HUNTER teenager has received an official caution after allegedly coughing over two people from a car near a pedestrian crossing.
Police said the 16-year-old leaned his head and shoulders out of the passenger window of a Nissan Navara shortly before 2pm on Victoria Parade at Nelson Bay.
Extending out of the vehicle, officers were told the teenager coughed on a 73-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman as they approached the crossing.
"He and the other occupants in the vehicle started laughing before the vehicle drove off," police said in a statement.
Police began investigating after the couple contacted Port Stephens Hunter Police District.
The 16-year-old attended Ryde Police Station after an investigation and will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
Two other occupants of the car also received warnings for breaching health directions.
