Cosy Joes launches search for Newcastle's karaoke king or queen with £1,400 prize

It's a place that is famous for its love of karaoke so it's only right that Newcastle bar Cosy Joes has its own contest dedicated to just that.

And after proving massively popular over the past few years, Cosy Joes karaoke competition is back for 2019 with prize money of £1,400 up for grabs.

Cosy Joes found itself on primetime Saturday night TV at the end of last year when Kylie Minogue fans belted out some of her classic hits, only for the lady herself to decide who was the best.

And earlier this year, a video of a man proposing in the Cloth Market bar after singing Lonestar's Amazed went viral.

Last year, Cosy Joes karaoke competition was won by Cramlington singer Louis Chrisp, who impressed the judges with his version of Prince's Purple Rain.

The year before that, the prize money was won by Beth Forrest, who belted out Adele's One and Only.

In a big change to the rules for the contest this years, duos will be allowed to enter, so if you have a friend or relative who is the Kiki Dee to your Elton John, the Kenny Rogers to your Dolly Parton or the Sonny to your Cher, now is your time to unite on stage!

The heats will get going on Thursday, June 27 and then continue on July 4, 11 and 18 before the final on Thursday, July 25.

You'll want to give it everything on the night as audience reaction to your performance will earn you extra points.

The contest is free to enter. Call 0191 2322224 to enter or email jack@cosyjoes.co.uk.
