Cosy East Ayrshire village café up for auction as owners close doors for 'new adventure'

A cosy village café is going under the hammer next month following the owners' decision to shut up shop and look after their health to “enjoy life with less stress.”

TopDexter Café, on the Main Street of Muirkirk in East Ayrshire, has been trading in the village for 12 years, with the owners establishing a positive reputation and successful business over the years through passing and local trade.

The café is going up for auction, under property auctioneers Auction House Scotland, on March 23 with a starting bid of just £50,000.

The café, which is in excellent condition throughout, is being offered for sale with all equipment included, plus the business’ popular social media pages - making it the perfect opportunity for someone to realise their dream in running their own food and drinks business.

The 742 square foot premises includes a spacious front service area with sales counter and seated tables; large and well-equipped kitchen; storage; customer toilets and staff facilities.

Off street parking is readily available nearby.

TopDexter Café has been operating successfully with limited weekly opening hours, however extending these hours to include evenings and a Sunday opening could offer a new owner the chance to boost the business’ revenue.

TopDexter Café posted of their closure on their Facebook page last week, saying: “This month we celebrated 12 years with TopDexter Café, and this month we also permanently closed our door.

“We would like to say a big thank you to all our customers during this period.

“Now we can take care of our health and enjoy life with less stress.

“Hospitality is really hard work and after 25 years we deserve to now ‘work’ in what really will be our hobby and pleasure.

“Time for a new adventure.”

Loyal customers were gutted to hear the owners were moving on to ventures new.

One commented: “Sad to see this. Big loss to the village. But all the best to you on whatever you decide to do next!”

Another said: “Fingers crossed someone will buy and keep the village with full bellies. All the best on your new journey guys.”

Another added: “Good luck to the both of you on your new adventure! Your chicken wraps will be missed.”

The café is going under the hammer at Auction House Scotland’s in-room auction at 2pm on Thursday, March 23 at the Radisson RED hotel, 25 Tunnel Street, Glasgow.

The auction will also be live streamed allowing interested bidders the option to watch and bid online, whilst telephone and proxy bidding is also available if potential buyers are unable to attend the auction to bid in person.

All bidders are required to register to bid before participating.
