Meeting up with friends for coffee is always a highlight of the weekend but I’ve become a bit of a creature of habit, sticking to places I know I like - and where I’m not going to spend ages waiting for a table.
But last weekend we decided to try somewhere we hadn’t been before and it certainly paid off.
I’d been wanting to visit Chapters of Us for a long time, after following it on Instagram for a while now but just never finding the time to make the short trip.

We arrived at the intimate cafe around midday after some serious Christmas shopping, desperate to get out of the cold weather and for a hot drink to warm us up.
The setting was what first impressed me. The space is filled with lots of beautiful natural wood, tons of greenery and a warm atmosphere that calms you instantly.
Service was prompt and we’d ordered a chai latte and hot chocolate within a few minutes of sitting down. We also couldn’t resist the call of sweet treats either, opting to order a cinnamon bun and a white chocolate and tahini blondie - which staff says often sells out quickly on a weekend.

The chai latte was the perfect balance between sweet and spicy, and the hot chocolate was creamy, smooth and went down a treat.
Deciding that neither of us could possibly choose which cake we’d rather have, we split the two - and there was a clear favourite.
The cinnamon bun, which arrived with a dusting of icing sugar, was just the thing we needed on a chilly December day.
Slightly crunchy on the outside and stucky, doughy, and filled with flavour on the inside, we couldn’t have asked for better.
The other sweet treat we’d ordered was one staff recommended, a white chocolate and tahini blondie. A member of staff said the treat is usually quick to sell out, with regulars often turning up early in order to get their hands on it.
The blondie was cooked to perfection, soft and chewy and filled with flavour. The white chocolate came through easily, it’s unique flavour almost overwhelming the other ingredients.
However, while I couldn’t exactly taste tahini, the other flavours left an odd aftertaste which I wasn’t particularly fond of.
Throughout our time at Chapters of Us staff frequently checked in to see if we needed anything, took away used dishes, and were kind and welcoming.
The tucked away little coffee shop is definitely worth the trip for the cosy atmosphere alone - though I’d definitely recommend the food and drink too.
