Costco makes immediate change to stores that will impact all members

Costco has confirmed another change to all of its stores regarding who can shop there during the coronavirus pandemic.

All Costco stores have remained opened during lockdown, with demand on the retailer huge as many shoppers are choosing to bulk buy their essentials.

To help cope with this demand, Costco has today sent an email to all members informing them of its new social distancing measure which is effective immediately.

Costco is now only allowing one person per membership to visit its stores and a maximum total of two people allowed to shop together.

The email reads: "To allow for essential shopping and enforcing of personal distancing, effective immediately only 1 guest is allowed per membership (2 persons total)."

It is hoped the new rule will ensure social distancing is met across stores and will means shoppers can keep a two metre distance between themselves and others to prevent further spread of coronavirus.

Costco has also extended its priority access to NHS and emergency service workers until Sunday, May 31. Costco will continue to open an hour earlier than trade hours exclusively for member who work in these professions.

Your Costco membership card and proof of employment will be required to gain entry to the warehouse.
