Costco forced to open early as shoppers face 'horrendous' queue outside

The Christmas Eve shopping chaos continues with Costco forced to open early this morning due to the amount of shoppers waiting outside.

Photographs sent to the ECHO show huge queues outside its Liverpool store with almost 100 shoppers waiting.

One shoppers got in touch with the ECHO to say due to the queues outside, Costco opened earlier than its usual 10am opening time.

On Twitter, users have also said the wait to get in the car park was "horrendous" resulting in them driving away from the store altogether.

User @dannypo187 said: "It's horrendous. Went to go to Costco and saw the queue just to get in the car park and went NAH!"

And, user @claire_cunners said: "We went in and done a 180."

Costco is the only store facing huge queues today - shoppers waited outside Liverpool's Knotty Ash Aldi store this morning hoping to get some last minute Christmas Eve shopping done.

It follows a weekend of supermarket chaos across Liverpool with car parks grid locked, reports of shoppers crying in Tesco and others describing places like Asda like a "war zone".
