Drivers are keeping an eagle eye on petrol prices following the spike in the cost of living. Prices rose by 7% in the 12 months to March, their fastest rate for 30 years and up from 6.2% in February. RAC's most up-to-date average fuel prices revealed unleaded is currently priced at 161.93p while diesel sits at 175.89p. Both prices peaked in March.
Higher prices for petrol and diesel mean petrol cars will cost £302 more to fill up in 2022 compared to 2021. For diesel drivers it is even higher, at £323, according to research by GoCompare Car Insurance.
