Costa to start selling coffee from just 32p - if it's in a reusable cup

Costa has said that from Monday, August 3, customers will be able to buy a coffee from just 32p.

That's down 68% on the price a couple of weeks ago, and is possible thanks to a combination of the VAT cut and the new Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

The full reduction a rill run every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in August, with 50% off all food and drink items up to a total value of £10 a person when they choose to eat in.

Costa Coffee UK managing director Neil Lake said: “We’re delighted to have signed up to the Government’s 'Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme, offering customers the opportunity to sit in store, relax and enjoy a perfectly hand-crafted cup of coffee and their favourite Costa Coffee food, for less."

The biggest reductions are for people who eat in (COSTA COFFEE)

To get a 32p coffee you need to order a small filter coffee in a reusable cup. By contrast, a handcrafted flat white now costs £1.06.

For people who want to turn their coffee break into a breakfast catch up, lunch, afternoon snack or bigger meal, there are more reductions too.

You'll be able to pick up two medium lattes, with a blueberry muffin and a slice of lemon drizzle cake for just £4.25 (down from £9.70).

A lunch for the whole family - including a flat white, iced latte, frostino, lemonade, ham & cheese toastie, Italian mozzarella and tomato panini, chocolate caramel and hazelnut cookie and Rolo muffin - will now cost just £10.04 (down from £22.95).

Meeting a friend for coffee and cake is a lot cheaper too (COSTA COFFEE)

And if it's just you looking for a bite to eat while you catch up on the latest news and gossip, here are the prices of some Costa classics if you eat in on the first three days of the week in August:

  • Vegan Ham & Cheeze Toastie now £1.29
  • Millionaire’s Shortbread now 86p
  • Sausage Bap now £1.29
  • Salted Caramel Brownie now 99p
  • Croissant now 59p

Lake said: “With over 1,700 Costa Coffee stores offering an eat-in area, no minimum spend required and a new summer range available in stores, customers will be spoilt for choice over what to enjoy.

"The safety of our team members and customers remains our number one priority and our eat-in areas have been designed in line with Government guidelines, with enhanced safety and operating measures in place to help ensure we keep everyone safe.”
