Footage has emerged of the former Manchester City striker Paulo Wanchope brawling with a man at a Costa Rica under-23 fixture in Panama City.
Local media reported that the Costa Rica national coach, who was attending the 2016 Olympic qualifier against Panama, reacted to being restrained behind a barrier when he tried to enter the field of play after the final whistle.
Reports said the man who restrained him was a local security guard, with their initial confrontation resulting in Wanchope colliding with a pitch-side ballboy. The men were later separated by police.

Wanchope, who also played for Derby, West Ham and Malaga, was appointed as Costa Rica’s coach on a full-time basis in February, having been in charge on an interim basis following the 2014 World Cup. He was the nation’s assistant manager during the tournament, where they drew 0-0 with England.
