Costa Coffee starts to reopen branches

Costa Coffee has begun reopening branches with four so far opened for takeaway and delivery.

The coffee chain has opened two branches in Manchester, one in Mansfield and one in Bristol.

A drive-thru in Manchester and one in Mansfield are now serving customers for takeaway while the other two branches are offering delivery only through UberEats.

Each of the stores reopened on Friday selling coffee, cakes and hot food including toasties and sandwiches.

Confirming the news on Facebook, Costa said: "We’re opening two drive-thru lanes and two stores for delivery on Friday.

"A massive thank you to the team members that have volunteered to work – helping support key workers.

"Our priority remains the safety of our teams and customers."

All of the newly reopened stores will be operating core hours of 8am to 4pm. They will also only be taking contactless payments.

For those who are ordering Costa via Uber Eats, there is no minimum spend but customers need to pay a delivery fee of £3.50 per order.

In another post on social media, Costa said they have introduced new measures to keep their employees and customers safe.

The chain confirmed that all staff will be given protective equipment, including masks, and need to follow strict social distancing guidelines.

Workers will also have to wash their hands and clean work surfaces at least every 30 minutes.

Costa temporarily closed most of its stores last month due to the ongoing coronavirus lockdown.

But the coffee giant isn't the only food chain that's reopened stores. Five Guys has reopened a selection of branches across the UK for delivery and collection.

While KFC have also opened a select number of branches - but only for delivery.
