Costa Coffee recalls salad over allergy fears

Costa Coffee is recalling one of its salad's over allergy fears.

The high-street coffee chain is pulling its Chicken & Bacon Pasta Salad from sale as it contains ingredients which are not mentioned on the label.

The product contains fish, milk and mustard which have not been declared on the packaging.

This could pose a health risk to anyone with an allergy to fish and/or mustard as well as an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

A recall notice issued on behalf of the company appears on the Food Standards Agency website and reads: "This Costa Coffee product has been recalled as the labelling contained three undeclared allergens; fish, milk and mustard.

"At Costa Coffee we take these issues incredibly seriously, which is why we withdrew the product from sale

"We sincerely apologise to our customers for any confusion.

"Customers who have eaten the product and feel unwell should immediately contact their local health service to seek advice.

"Customers with this salad should return it to a store for a full refund.

"Customers should also feel free to contact our customer service team to discuss on 0333 0035 883."

No other Costa Coffee products are known to be affected.
