Costa Coffee issues urgent product recall on Jammy Rudolph Shortcake

Costa Coffee is recalling its Jammy Rudolph Shortcake because it contains egg that is not mentioned on the label.

The undeclared ingredient poses a possible health risk for those with an egg allergy or intolerance.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has urged customers with an egg allergy or intolerance not to eat the product and instead return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.

The coffee chain has also issued a point of sale notice about the “necessary precaution” of the recall, which affects batches with a best before date of January 7, 2021.

Costa Coffee said: “We have notified the relevant allergen bodies and food governance agencies and are carrying out a full investigation with our supplier to understand how this happened.

“Any customers that have eaten the product and feel unwell should immediately contact their local health services to seek advice.

“We take this matter extremely seriously and sincerely apologise to our customers for any confusion and inconvenience.”
