Costa Coffee branch in Bristol city centre closes suddenly

The UK's largest coffee shop chain Costa has closed the doors of one of its city centre branches and will not be reopening.

The coffee shop, located at Cathedral Walk, Millennium Promenade, was extremely popular - particularly due to its prime locations next to some of Bristol's biggest hotspots, such as At-Bristol.

However, it will no longer be serving its renowned hot drinks and accompanying snacks to hungry passers-by.

A Costa Coffee spokesperson has spoken to Bristol Live on the closure saying: “We can confirm that the Costa Coffee store at Cathedral Walk, Bristol, closed on Friday 12th November 2021, as a result of a decision by the landlord."

In 2020, due to difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the chain cut up to 1,650 staff members.

However, despite the sudden closing down of the Bristol branch, it has been assured that staff have been relocated to separate Costa Coffee stores in the local area.

The company's spokesperson apologised on behalf of Costa for any inconvenience the store closure may cause customers and "hopes to continue to serve the local community their favourite Costa coffee at nearby stores or via one of Costa's Express machines".

Those who still wish to visit Costa Coffee can find another located in the area, at 30 College Green.
