An Under 13 select side representing the South Belfast Youth League will be going for glory in Spain this evening.
The talented teens are into the Plate final at the Costa Blanca Cup where they will play Independiente Madrid.
It is the first ever a South Belfast Select Side has reached a final at the tournament - but they have more than earned their spot.
Trials started way back in October when over 150 players attended.
Those numbers were whittled down to two squads who travelled to Spain, representing at Under 13 and 15 level.
The U15s lost out in their quarter-final on n Thursday after topping their group unbeaten.
En route to the quarters they beat Ultimate Madrid who were last year’s semi-finalists and are in this year's plate final.
The Under 13s remain in contention for silverware, however, having come through a tough group stage.
They started with a 1-0 defeat to Villanueva De La Canada on Monday but followed that up with a stellar 3-2 victory over Seleccio L’Alcoia on Tuesday.
There was disappointment on Wednesday when they fell to a spirited 4-2 defeat to Cultural Deportiva Leonesa, but bounced back with a 4-0 win in the Plate quarter-finals against Euro Sports Brazil.
And earlier on Friday they saw off Fundacion Benidorm 2-1 to book their place in the final, with goals from Max Grierson and Joel O’Rourke.
This evening's showpiece decider will kick-off on Friday evening (July 5) at 5pm local time (4pm BST).
Fans will be able to see some potential stars of the future.
One young player who has gone on to make a name for himself recently is Gerard Storey who signed for Portsmouth this week.
Storey played for the SBYFl side three years ago at the Costa Blanca Cup.
