'Cost them' - TV pundit takes aim at Nottingham Forest duo over late Derby County drama

Former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison says defender Joe Worrall and goalkeeper Brice Samba both cost Nottingham Forest victory over 10-man Derby County.

The promotion-chasing Reds had looked on course to take all three points against their arch rivals at Pride Park after taking the lead through Joe Lolley's first-half strike.

But, in the very last minute, Worrall conceded a needless free-kick with a foul on Morgan Whittaker.

Brice Samba then spilled Wayne Rooney's delivery which allowed Chris Martin to score a last-gasp equaliser.

Sabri Lamouchi's side had been well in control up until that point and his assistant assistant coach Bruno Baltazar said Forest's late mishap was "unacceptable".

And speaking on Quest's EFL show, Former Palace striker Morrison said he could not understand why Forest had put themselves in that position.

Reviewing the free-kick which Worrall conceded, he said: “I totally don’t get this one.

“Worrall has been outstanding for Forest this season.

“I don’t know why he is doing that to young Whittaker.

“Figueiredo is dealing with it and playing it back to Samba.

“Then look at what happens. He (Worrall) will be watching it and be disappointed.

“Listen, Samba could have got him out of trouble. But he has to be stronger.

“He’s been excellent as well. But two of their mainstays this season, who have been brilliant, have cost them."

The game was also marred by a late red card for Derby substitute Martyn Waghorn after a shocking challenge on Forest midfielder Ryan Yates.

Waghorn will now miss three games at a time when the Rams are pushing hard for a play-off place.

Morrison felt the referee had no choice but to dismiss the forward.

“I don’t think Martyn Waghorn is like that,” he said.

“It was a bad tackle and he deserved to get sent off.

“But he’s going to be disappointed because he’s going to have a three-game ban.

“He is their top goalscorer.

“They’re already missing Tom Lawrence and these are key players."
