Cosmetic dentist crashed his Mercedes into another car while drunk

A cosmetic dentist who crashed his car in south Liverpool was driving with more than twice the legal alcohol limit in his blood.

Dr Rohan Sahdev drove his Mercedes into another car on Aigburth Hall Road in July last year.

The ECHO first reported on the 29-year-old four years ago after a body transformation that led to him being dubbed one of the 'city's hottest dentists'.

But today the University of Liverpool graduate was handed a lengthy driving ban and told to pay more than £4,000 in fines after police found excessive amounts of alcohol in his blood after a crash last year.

He told the ECHO in 2017 that cutting alcohol from his diet temporarily was one of the things that allowed him to lose almost two stone and build muscle.

Yet prosecutors said Sahdev was well over the limit when he crashed into a black Audi on July 4, 2020, and appeared drunk when found by members of the public.

He then left his car before returning and being found by police around an hour later.

Breathalyser testing by the police found he had a blood alcohol level of 81 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of blood, more than double the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.

Sahdev argued in a trial last month that he was over the legal limit because he had drunk alcohol in the aftermath of the crash but magistrates found him guilty at a trial on October.

He was sentenced at Liverpool Magistrates' Court today for drink driving and failing to stop after an accident.

Sahdev, of Rangemore Road was disqualified from driving for 20 months.

He was also fined £4,035 and ordered to pay £650 in costs and a £190 victim surcharge.
