Cosby opts not to testify as defense rests

NORRISTOWN, Pa. _ Bill Cosby won't testify. And the jury will soon get the case.

As the second week of his sexual assault trial started Monday, the defendant told Montgomery County Judge Steven T. O'Neill that he agreed with his lawyers' decision not to put him on the witness stand.

With the jury not in the courtroom, the 79-year-old entertainer also told the judge he agreed with his lawyers' plan to call only one witness a Cheltenham detective who testified for the prosecution last week before concluding their case.

"You have chosen not to testify in this case?" O'Neill asked.

"Correct," Cosby responded in a forceful tone.

Then the defense rested.

Also Monday, Cosby's wife Camille accompanied him to court for the first time since the trial opened.
