Cory Sandhagen says he’s only one in bantamweight division who can beat Henry Cejudo

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Cory Sandhagen beat Raphael Assuncao with a unanimous decision Saturday on the preliminary card at UFC 241 in Anaheim, Calif.

Take a look inside the fight with Sandhagen, who picked up the biggest win of his career.

Result: Cory Sandhagen def. Raphael Assuncao via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
Updated records: Sandhagen (12-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC), Assuncao (27-7 MMA, 11-4 UFC)
Key stat: Sandhagen stayed perfect in the UFC and won for the seventh straight time.

Sandhagen on the fight’s key moment

“I knew I was going to come in hungrier than him, but I always have to fight very intelligently. There’s a part of me that’s very animalistic that just wants to go in and beat someone up really badly, and then the other part of me knows that style isn’t my art – it’s something that’s very efficient and deliberate, so it’s always a balance.”

Sandhagen on if he’s ready for a title shot

“I don’t know if I deserve a title shot yet, if I’m honest with myself, but I know no one in the division is going to be able to beat (champion Henry) Cejudo except for me. It’s going to take someone different, someone who brings a different type of style and game. Everyone in the top 10 is pretty much the same. I’m very, very different, and I’m telling you I’m the only guy that can do it.”

Sandhagen on what he wants next

“I’ll let my agent work and see if he can get me a title shot. There’s too many factors in MMA to bank on. I’m not going to wait a year to fight, so whatever is next, I’m ready.”
