Corstorphine High Street closed after Mercedes collides with lamp post

Drivers are being warned to avoid Corstorphine High Street following a crash.

Diversions are in place following the incident this afternoon, police have said.

The incident, which saw a silver Mercedes collide head-on with a lamp post, happened at around 1.20pm.

Edinburgh Live understands an ambulance was called to the scene but it is not known who was injured or how badly.

Corstorphine High Street has been closed while work takes place at the scene and traffic is currently being diverted.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a car colliding with a lamp post on Corstorphine High Street, Edinburgh, around 1.20pm on Tuesday, 15 September, 2020.

"The road has been closed and diversions are in place."

UPDATE: The crash has been cleared and the High Street has now reopened, traffic has reportedly returned to normal.

Traffic reporting service Inrix said: "Corstorphine High Street in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident between Corstorphine Inn and National Records of Scotland."
