Corsock Kids Club brighten up village thanks to free plants from Dumfries and Galloway Council

It’s blooming lovely in and around Corsock after local children planted up tubs with colourful flower displays.

Dumfries and Galloway Council were advertising free bedding plants and Corsock Kids Club took up the offer with both hands.

Corsock and Kirkpatrick Durham Community Council took delivery of the plants and the children, with adult supervision, got to work.

And despite Covid-19 physical distancing rules, the exercise was a great success.

Most important of all was the chance for the kids to see each other again and take part in a social activity together.

Mum-of-two Martha Schofield said: “Corsock Kids Club had some funds for activities from the community council under the Blackcraig micro grant scheme.

“That paid for the planters and pots and we planted up four in Corsock village and two at Knockvennie Hall.

“We thought it would be a nice way to do something for the village and wider community.

“Hopefully it has brightened the village up a bit.”
