Corsock cycling brothers Josh and Cobey Stewart enjoy success in North West Youth League

Two young cycling brothers from Corsock are taking the sport by storm – across the Border in England.

Josh and Cobey Stewart are among Scotland’s top riders in their age group but regularly head south where competition is toughest.

Both boys have been competing in the North West Youth League’s seven-race championship series against rivals from the likes of Liverpool. Manchester and Carlisle.

And in the final race at the Litherland circuit on Merseyside on Saturday, Cobey, aged eight, completed a clean sweep of victories in the Youth ‘E’ category to win the overall title.

Ten-year-old Josh, meanwhile, won three of his seven races to claim second overall in the Youth ‘D’ competition.

Proud dad Chris, a keen cyclist himself, said: “Cobey won all his seven races and certainly ruffled a few feathers across the Border.

“Josh won three times and came second in the other four – to take any win down there is a huge deal.”

Chris also took the dynamic duo to Fife on Sunday to compete in the Scottish criterium championship race – and both Josh and Cobey won their races.

Chris said: “I would like them to become professional riders and I’m trying to get sponsorship for them.”
