Corrie viewers will see a ‘different side’ to evil nanny Jade says Lottie Henshall

The actress who plays evil nanny Jade Rowan has revealed that Coronation Street viewers will see a ‘different side’ to her tonight.

Lottie Henshall appeared on ITV’s Lorraine today to speak about her on-screen character, who is the daughter of John Stape.

Viewers have seen Jade cause some serious family drama for Fiz (Jennie McAlpine), using her daughter Hope as her way of seeking revenge on her dead dad’s former wife.

But Lottie today explained that Jade is just “misunderstood” and fans will get to see a different side to her.

She told host Lorraine Kelly: “Jade is going to show a really vulnerable side to her tonight so I am hoping that viewers get to see a different side to her.”

When asked if she thinks Jade is “misunderstood”, Lottie agreed.

“I think she is,” she said. “Honestly I really love her.

“It’s so easy to just label her as a psycho but she really does love Hope. She has been brainwashed to believing that Fiz is evil.

“She has been fed lies all her life to believe that Fiz pretty much killed her dad. All she wants is to rescue Hope.”

Lottie also revealed that she didn’t know the full story of her character until after she got the part.

“They didn’t tell me I was going to be John Stape’s daughter until I got the job,” she explained. “So I wasn’t fully aware of it. But when I found out I was like, this is amazing.”

Lottie, who was working in a gym before her part on the street, got the call to say she had the part and quite literally threw the towel in.

“I threw the towel on the floor and walked out,” she laughed. “It’s a dream come true.”

She added: “I can’t stop smiling, every day I am filming I am looking around the set like, I can’t believe I am here. To work with Maureen Lipman - well, all of them. What legends.”

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
